K-Electric clarification

Letter May 12, 2018
Load management in previously exempted residential areas is temporary and will be normalised

Apropos the letter published in the Express Tribune on May 9th, K-Electric would like to inform the readers that no unscheduled load-shedding is being carried out anywhere in the city. Residential areas which were previously exempted from load-shedding are currently experiencing scheduled load management of up to three hours due to a fault at one unit of K-E’s Bin Qasim power plant. This load management in previously exempted residential areas is temporary and will be normalised as soon as the said fault is rectified. The fact that previously exempted residential areas are experiencing temporary load management was also communicated for information of general public via national dailies as well as SMS to respective customers besides regular updates to the press and media. The power utility regrets the inconvenience caused to customers during this time and is making all possible efforts to bring the said unit back online as soon as possible.

Customers who are not currently registered with K-E’s 8119 service are urged to get registered to the service, which is the easiest way to know respective load shed schedule. The same can also be obtained via K-E’s pages on Facebook and Twitter.
