The association, a partner organisation of the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN), had identified 73,000 women who were deprived of their computerised national identity cards (CNICs) and facilitated more than 15,000 of them in getting their cards and registering
them as voters.
According to the electoral rolls of 2017, around 26,627 names of women are absent in the voter lists. The major reason for this is the absence of CNICs.
As part of a special campaign by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and NADRA for making CNICs of women, ACE mobilizers visited houses in 672 block codes of Peshawar district and identified those women who still did not have CNICs.
ACE helped them in acquiring CNICs and registering as voters.
Project coordinators Dr Sheeraz Ahmed and Zubair Ambia urged NADRA officials to continue the process of registering women in those areas of Peshawar which were identified by ACE as being deficient.
