LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Noorul Amin Mengal directed the authority’s operation wing to complete the inspection of 130,000 private and public schools in two days, in order to verify the installation of water filtration plants, on Tuesday. In addition to this, the director general issued orders that a compliance report be submitted. After ending the deadline for the installation, the authority has decided to initiate an inspection drive in this regard. The plan proposes that PFA teams and officials will confirm the installation of water filtration plants in approximately 70,000 private and 60,000 public schools across Punjab. This also includes 12,500 private and 1,284 government schools located in the provincial capital. Mengal revealed that the authority had directed the school’s administration to install water filtration plants to ensure the provision of clean and safe drinking water for students, teachers and support staff. Now that the deadline has ended, the authority is going to launch a crackdown against those educational institutions which continue to flout PFA’s directions, he said.
