The anti-corruption department had received complaints from all over Punjab over the release of fake PT-1 (Property Tax) forms. While taking notice, Anti-Corruption Director General Muzaffar Ali Ranjha had issued instructions to all the regional directors to protect civilians from being deprived of their precious land and commercial properties from a mafia operating through fake PT-1. They had been told to deal with them with an iron hand.
Anti-corruption nabs 377 suspects in Gujranwala
In this regard, the anti-corruption officials initiated action in Gujranwala against corrupt elements of the excise and finance departments. They were allegedly involved in making fake PT-1s and changing the land record.
A citizen of Rangpura area submitted an application to anti-corruption officials in which he stated that he went to the excise office where senior clerk Sikander Shabbir asked for a bribe to make documents of the PT-1. He added the accused told him the work will not be completed without a bribe. He maintained Sikander Shabbir was a part of a gang which worked with other officials and had been involved in various illegal activities. For the purpose, a team was constituted under the circle officer which caught the suspect while taking a bribe of Rs5,000.
