Pakistan-American comedian Kumail Nanjiani and London Mayor Sadiq Khan have made it to Time's 100 most influential.

Emmy-Award winning screenwriter Judd Apatow, who penned Nanjiani's profile termed him "the new comedic voice that we need". "He reminds people how fundamental a misunderstanding it is that a community of almost 2 billion people is to be feared. We’re lucky to have Kumail. We need a thousand more," he added.

London's first Muslim mayor Sadiq Khan has been called "a rising star who has a bright political future". In his profile, former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg also hinted at the possibility of Khan going on to becoming prime minister.

Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman also features in the list. "Saudis appreciate his controversial challenge to the culture of corruption, and reining in religious police who choked us, literally and figuratively," his profile, authored by a women's rights activist reads.

Noted Indian cricketer Virat Kohli came in for heavy praise from batting ace Sachin Tendulkar. "Kohli is a household name and a champion in cricket," he wrote.

Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone is "the best Earth has to offer," Hollywood actor Vin Diesel posited. He said she was "not just here to represent India; she’s here to represent the world."

Tennis legend Roger Federer has been eulogised by Bill Gates for his "combination of grace and grit".  "It will be a sad day for all of us fans when he hangs up his racket—but we can take comfort in knowing that he’s committed to making the world a more equitable place," Gates said.

This year, a record 45 people featured are under 40. Actor Millie Bobby Brown is the youngest to feature in history at 14. United States President Donald Trump, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Kim Jong-Un of North Korea, singer Rihanna and Prince Harry feature alongside other individuals of note who made it to the list.
