GUJRANWALA: A young man allegedly tortured and killed his 17-year-old sister, Iqra, and elderly grandmother at their house in the limits of Qila Deedar Singh, Gujranwala on Sunday.

The suspect named Sufyan started beating his sisters with a stick after a heated argument over some domestic issue.

The situation escalated when he shot his sisters and fatally injured his grandmother who tried to intervene in the scuffle.

Police said Sufyan’s 18-year-old sister Sidra was also injured while trying to save her sister and grandmother. Iqra breathed her last at the hospital during treatment while the condition of Sidra is stated to be critical.

The suspect managed to flee after the incident. Qila Deedar Singh Police registered a case on the complaint of Sufyan’s cousin named Muhammad Akram and arrested the culprit for killing his sister and grandmother.

According to the neighbours, the siblings often used to argue and fight in the house. Their parents had died in an accident 15 years ago and their grandmother had brought them up. One of the sisters, Asiya, got married a few years ago.

Investigation officer Muhammad Waqas said that it was an honour killing and a case has been registered. The suspect, Suyfan, confessed that he wanted to kill his sisters and their grandmother intervened.
