LAHORE: Three staff members working at Lahore General Hospital’s (LGH) emergency department were attacked by a patient’s attendants, according to a press release issued by the LGH management on Wednesday. Shakeel was brought to the emergency department for treatment after he was involved in a traffic accident, the statement detailed. Meanwhile, his attendants, who were desperate to meet him, were stopped after being informed that only one of them could enter, which led to a scuffle. As a result, staff members, namely Ibrahim, Rashid and Ali Murtaza, sustained injuries. LGH administration and police reached the scene and took the culprits into custody. Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Dr Ghiasun Nabi expressed concern over the incident and assured doctors, nurses and paramedical staff of their safety while they were on the job. He also requested patients to follow the ‘one man, one attendant’ policy when visiting hospitals.
