ISLAMABAD: Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Japan and desires to further expand the friendly ties in different sectors for mutual benefit of both sides, said Senate Chairperson Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani.

Reiterating the need to further strengthen the existing economic relations between Pakistan and Japan, Sanjrani called for minimising the imbalance in trade between the two countries. He said that prospects of trade volume can be improved through enhancing parliamentary ties and cooperation.

Talking to the Ambassador of Japan in Pakistan Takashi Kurai, who called on him, the Senate chairman said bilateral relations could be further cemented by increasing parliamentary exchanges.

He asked the ambassador to explore avenues for investment in Gwadar where he said he would play an active role to facilitate the Japanese investors through the Balochistan government. He said that exports to Japan should also increase to create a trade balance.

Both side agreed to activate the friendship groups in their respective parliaments.

The Senate chairperson invited the leader of the Pakistan-Japan Friendship Group in Japanese Parliament to visit Pakistan along with a delegation.
