Salman's sisters Alvira and Arpita were present in the court when the judgement was pronounced. Amid tight security, the actor was taken to the Jodhpur Central Jail where he spent the night.
Salman Khan to spend night in jail following conviction
Following the Dabangg actor's conviction, many celebs came forward to support him. One of them was Mawra Hocane.
Taking to Twitter, Mawra expressed her support towards Salman and wrote, "In a world with no “NO” human rights, a great human being is being punished for killing an animal umpteen years ago under animal rights."
In a world with no “NO” human rights, a great human being is being punished for killing an animal umpteen years ago under animal rights. Bash me all you want, but there’s something completely wrong about it.. mind you such human beings are our saving grace! #SalmanKhanVerdict

But she didn't stop there. She was all set for the bashing coming her way after her tweet.
"Bash me all you want, but there’s something completely wrong about it.. mind you such human beings are our saving grace!" added the Sammi actor.
And surely, it hit some nerves.
Are u out of ur mind?

The same man has been involved in hit & run incident that resulted in death & he has also beaten up a woman & threatened female journos.
He isnt our saving grace, he is an example of everything that’s wrong with today’s society.
Ironic that Pakistani artists & former cricket stars are sending out sympathies for #SalmanKhan on his unlawful act.👎However not standing against terror supporting Indians who are attacking #ShahidAfridi personally for raising voice for innocent Kashmiris.🇵🇰 #AfridiWithKashmir

Yes... Because killing that animal was a criminal offense... Also, this great human being bought his freedom after killing an innocent human being in a hit and run case....

Since when is a guy who is violent against women, involved in a hit and run and has made a negative impact on the environment by committing such an act a saving Grace?!I value the lives of the poor animals and people whose lives have been destroyed than that of such a low life 🙄

Mawra wasn't the only one who showed support towards Salman though.
Humaima Malick expressed her sentiments through Instagram, and wrote, "I have witnessed the religion that he belongs to which is called humanity. Today is a sad day @BeingSalmanKhan you are a bigger person than all of us. Respects for you always and forever. Salute."

However, one actor didn't mirror Mawra and Humaima's thoughts on the matter.
Responding to Mawra's tweet, Ushna Shah believes justice is being served. "Hundreds of God’s creatures have faced extinction at the hands of humans hunting for trophies, the white rhino only recently" wrote the actor.
Hundreds of God’s creatures have faced extinction at the hands of humans hunting for trophies, the white rhino only recently. Everyone, no matter how benevolent a producer, ought to be accountable for their actions. Gratitude shouldn’t conflict with principle.

"Everyone, no matter how benevolent a producer, ought to be accountable for their actions. Gratitude shouldn’t conflict with principle," she added.
The prosecution alleged that Salman and other Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam went hunting on the October 1-2 in 1998 outside a forest reserve in Kankani village near Jodhpur while shooting for Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1998. The four co-stars and a local, Dushyant Singh, were all acquitted.
What do you think about Mawra's notion? Do you agree?
