LAHORE:

A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday disposed of an application seeking transfer of a petition, demanding registration of FIR against former president Pervez Musharraf, interior minister Rehman Malik, senior minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, and former law minister Dr Babar Awan in Benazir Bhutto murder case, from its Rawalpindi bench to the principal seat at Lahore.

The bench headed by Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry decided that a larger bench will hear the petition at Rawalpindi bench holding day-to-day proceedings.

Earlier, the respondents’ counsel said the petitioner had been showing distrust in courts. He pointed out that at Rawalpindi bench, Justice Asad Munir had heard the petition and reserved the verdict. The petitioner applied for the transfer of the case.

The CJ decided that a larger bench be constituted to hear the matter at the Rawalpindi bench.
