Missing activist Samar Abbas contacts family members
Police acted following the US embassy's report that the family was missing. Relatives of the family contacted local authorities in the county of Creston, in the US midwestern state of Iowa, after they lost touch with the family on vacation on March 14-21.
In the predawn hours, Tulum police found the bodies of the children in front of the television at the apartment inside a complex known as Tao Residences. The bodies of the couple were in the bedroom.
They were identified as Kevin Wayne Sharp, 41, Amy Marie Sharp, 38, Sterling Wayne Sharp, 12, and Adrianna Marie Sharp, seven.
Authorities said there were no signs of violence and the victims, a couple and their two children, showed no visible injuries, though the corpses were already decomposing.
Civil society to hold protest against missing persons
"During the inspection, (the authorities) found no trace of violence on the bodies or in the room," the prosecutor's office of Quintana Roo state, where the resort is located, said in an online statement.
The apartment involved was registered in the name of the man.
