KARACHI: Within weeks of launching Daehan Shehzore, the senior management of SsangYong Motor Company (SYMC), a sports utility vehicle (SUV) manufacturer of South Korea, visited Pakistan to finalise plans for introducing SUVs early next year with the top management of Daehan Dewan Motor Company.

The SsangYong team also visited Dewan Farooque Motor Limited’s (DFML) auto assembly plant in Sujawal, Sindh.

“Keen interest on the part of the Korean company shows that the Automotive Development Policy (ADP 2016-21) has been successful in attracting healthy investments from some of the leading international automobile manufacturers,” said a statement.

Moreover, having DFML as a business partner, who had recently been awarded Brownfield investment status by the government, would enable SYMC to establish its foothold in Pakistan, it said.

SYMC is the fourth largest South Korea-based automobile manufacturer.
