PPP to oppose privatisation

Letter March 03, 2018
Unfortunately, state-owned entities have always been neglected by successive governments

LAHORE: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his party will oppose the privatisation of Pakistan International Airline and the Pakistan Steel Mills, implying that it is due to the failure of policies of the incumbent government that the two have turned into loss-making entities. Factually, it has taken years of failed policies and personal interests of certain individuals for PIA and the PSM to suffer billions in losses. Prior to the PML-N, it was the PPP government that took no initiative to improve the two entities. Unfortunately, state-owned entities have always been neglected by successive governments to the point where privatisation remains the only way out of the difficulty. Hence, it shouldn’t be opposed.
