PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that confrontation between the government and state institutions is detrimental to the country’s future, especially for the rights of the Pakhtuns.

Sherpao was addressing a meeting of the party’s core committee at Watar Kor on Saturday,

Participants of the meeting lamented that non-issues were being highlighted while issues of vital concern for the Pakhtuns had been ignored which would further intensify their insecurities.

The meeting referred to the murders of Naqeebullah and Ahmad Shah and said any injustice would further perpetuate regional agonies.

It condemned the confrontation between the government and the opposition, saying that such conflicts would further push back the issues of Khyber-Pakthunkhwa and harm the democratic process.

“Verdicts of the Supreme Court should not carry the potential to increase political instability,” said party leaders while advising politicians to play their role to prevent confrontation.

Furthermore, the core committee urged all political parties to work for mass mobilisation to attract maximum participation in the upcoming general elections.

The core committee meeting was attended by provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, central general secretary Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, provincial general secretary Hashim Babar, provincial information secretary Tariq Khan and others.
