Harassment: BZU assistant professor resigns

MULTAN:

A Bahauddin Zakariya University assistant professor has resigned after he failed to defend himself before a committee formed to probe harassment charges against him. Engineering College’s assistant professor, Muhammad Wasiq, was accused by a student of harassing her when she was sitting alone in the common room. In her application to the Electronics Department’s head of department, Prof Naik Muhammad, the student said that Wasiq came to the common room and on finding other students left. She said the man returned after a while when she was alone in the room and harassed her. She said the man fled when she started shouting for help. Several students of the university had been on strike for several days in protest against the assistant professor.

They said that Wasiq had beaten up one of the students in his class.
