Blast hits Karachi-bound Bolan Express in Nasirabad

Police say unidentified miscreants had planted explosives beside the railway track; one wounded

QUETTA: At least one person was injured when the Karachi bound Bolan Mail Express hit an explosion in Nasirabad, Balochistan on Tuesday.

Police said unidentified miscreants had planted an explosive device beside the railway track near Damboli area of Dera Murad Jamali, causing the incident.

Rescue workers and law enforcement agencies rushed to the spot and cordoned-off the site. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

“One passengers sustained minor injuries in the blast while seven compartments of the train derailed because of the explosion,” railways officials confirmed.

The blast caused the train service to be suspended near Damboli Station, while officials departed a relief train from the nearest Sibbi division.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Qudus Bizenjo condemned the attack and directed the authorities to make prompt arrangement for the passengers' safe journey ahead.

Further, Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said that those involved in attacking innocent passengers will be brought to justice, “Our war against terrorism will continue, we aren't afraid of these cowardly acts.”

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
