Paramilitary force arrests six suspects in New Karachi, Awami Colony and Shah Latif Town

KARACHI: The Rangers claimed on Friday to have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition belonging to a political party during a raid in Liaquatabad. Separately, the paramilitary force also claimed to have arrested at six suspects, including members of a political party and banned outfit.

According to a Rangers spokesperson, the Rangers troops conducted a raid on a tip-off at a compound located at Naseer Square in Sharifabad in Liaquatabad and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition. According to the spokesperson, the recovered arms belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) - London, which had hidden them to later use for terrorist activities and targeted killings. The arms included five sub-machineguns, seven pistols, four jackets, 23 magazines and 1,950 rounds of ammunition.

In the meantime, the paramilitary force arrested six suspects during targeted raids conducted across the city. The raids were conducted in New Karachi, Awami Colony and Shah Latif Town areas. According to the spokesperson, a suspected militant, Abdul Khaliq, affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, was arrested during a targeted raid conducted in New Karachi. The suspect was involved in various cases of terrorism, the spokesperson claimed.

In another raid in Awami Colony, the Rangers arrested three suspects - Waseem alias Lyari, Waqas and Shaikh Ghazanfar alias Gulabi. The suspects arrested were reportedly affiliated with the Muhajir Qaumi Movement - Haqiqi and were involved in various cases of crime, including robberies and the sale and purchase of arms.

In Shah Latif Town, the Rangers arrested an accused identified as Osama Shamim alias Shakeel. According to the paramilitary force, the accused was involved in arms smuggling.

Meanwhile, another suspect, Anwar, was arrested by the Rangers in New Karachi. He was allegedly involved in various cases of street crime.
