Protests erupt as eight-year-old Kashmiri girl found raped, murdered in IoK

Police did not make any effort to trace girl after abduction, according to reports

ISLAMABAD: The people of Kashmir held a demonstration on the incompetence of law enforcement authorities after the brutal rape and murder of an 8-year-old little girl in Kathua district of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK), according to the Kashmir Media Service.

Asifa Bano, who had gone missing a week ago, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Hiranagar tehsil of Hindu-dominated Kathua district, initial reports suggest.

The family and the relatives of the girl staged a protest in the locality, demanding swift investigation into the case and the arrest of the culprits.

“A minor girl, missing for the past one week was found dead in Rasana village of Hiranagar tehsil of the district,” a police official told the media.

“We have shifted the body to District Hospital Kathua for the postmortem,” he added.

KSM said that there were serious injury marks on the face of the girl.

Meanwhile, the opposition staged a walkout from the puppet Kashmir Assembly as well to protest the murder.

As soon as proceedings of the House began, legislators stood up to protest against the murder of Asifa Bano.

The opposition lawmakers say that police did not make any effort to trace the girl after she was abducted.
