Jadhav told his family he was 'indeed' an Indian spy

Convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav confessed to his family that he was involved in terrorism in Pakistan when he met his mother Avanti Jadhav and wife Chetna in Islamabad earlier this week.

Indian media reported on Thursday, Jadhav “greeted the two women by acknowledging that he was, as alleged by Pakistan and contested by India, indeed an Indian spy and had engineered a spate of terror attacks”.’

According to The Times of India, the family did not expect this reaction from Jadhav to their first meeting in almost two years. The report added that his mother stopped him from confessing to his crimes.

Jadhav met his mother and wife in Islamabad on December 25 -- their first meeting since his arrest from Balochistan last year on charges of espionage and terrorism.

He was tried by a military court and awarded death penalty. The chief of army staff has endorsed his death penalty.

The Indian government has taken the matter to the International Court Justice, which has stayed his execution.

Even is most so called civilized countries, jails have the same kind of security for both inmate and the relatives. India are Pakistan are not friendly nations. Its every right of Pakistan to make sure of security arrangements. And Jadhav already knows he is going to get hanged. What else can make him under pressure?

Raj | 6 years ago | Reply This itself proves the point that, Jadhav was under coercion to say that he is a spy when he meets the family. No person will every say so, when he meets his family after a period of 22 months. First things will be to enquire about everyone and in fact, as reported by INdian media, as Pakistan forced the two women to remove mangal sutra, Jadhav assumed falsely that his father is dead and so wanted to enquire about father. The family was not allowed to speak in thier own lanugage. Mother was forced to wear Kurta which she is not used to and does not liek. ALl these pak drama points out that, pakistan was acting in order to protect its case in the ICJ. That is all.

Vineeth | 6 years ago | Reply Does Pakistan have a shred of evidence against Jadhav other than these 'confessions' that are repeated over and over? I do not know about Pakistan, but courts in India or the Western world do not consider such 'confessions' as proof of guilt as they can be extracted under physical or psychological torture. Perhaps Islamic law considers a 'confession' as proof enough?
