ISLAMABAD: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Friday urged the government to award industry status to furniture manufacturers in order to enhance their exports and resultantly fetch foreign exchange for the country. In a statement, FPCCI President Zubair Tufail urged the government to provide fiscal support for skills training and machinery upgrading to increase export competitiveness of the furniture sector. Talking to a delegation of Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC), led by its Chief Executive Mian Kashif Ashfaq, Tufail said the local furniture sector attached great importance to the national economy and could make a substantial contribution of billions of dollars in exports annually.
