In a fatal road accident due to dense fog, 11 people lost their lives on Thursday when a passenger bus collided with a trailer on Motorway M-4 near Khanewal.

According to Express News, the unfortunate incident occurred when the passenger bus met with its fate due to a severe foggy condition in the area. The bus was travelling from Lahore to Rajanpur.

As a result of the accident, 11 people died on the spot while 20 others were left injured some of who were said to be in critical condition. The driver of the bus was also killed in the accident, the report quoted police as saying.

Air pollution in Punjab is 20 times the safe limit

Meanwhile, bodies and the injured were later shifted to Nishtar Hospital Multan.

Dense and foggy condition remained prevalent, disrupting air travel and transportation in Punjab. People have been advised to reduce the speed of their vehicles and use fog lights to avert any untoward situation, particularly on the motorway.

Weeks of thick toxic smog has already disrupted normal life in parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), with flights cancelled and road accidents surging.

The fog crisis is part of a wider smog emergency that has hit neighbouring India.
