FAISALABAD: A man killed his wife over a domestic dispute in the area of Sandal Bar police station on Friday.

A police official said Naseem Akhtar, wife of Muhammad Ramzan and a resident of Chak No 30-JB, had an argument with her husband over a minor dispute. As the arguments escalated, Ramzan got enraged and attacked his wife with an axe. As a result, Naseem suffered critical injuries and was shifted to hospital for treatment. However, she could not survive and breathed her last.

The police took the body into custody and started investigation. Accused Ramzan managed to escape from the scene.

Electrocuted to death

A worker was electrocuted in a factory in the area of Ghulam Muhammadabad police station.

A police official said that 32-year-old Idrees, a resident of Chak No 7-JB, was working at a power loom factory in Faizabad when he suffered an electric shock. As a result, he died on the spot.

The police handed the body to his relatives after completing legal formalities.

School head removed

Secondary Education District Officer Chaudhry Khalid Akhtar has removed the head of a girl's high school on charges of poor performance and negligence.

Education department officials conducted a visit to Government Girl's High School, Chak No 258-RB, and found the UPS out-of-order, IT Lab non-functional and electric water pump unprotected.

While taking action, the DO removed headmistress Farhat Batool from her post and appointed a teacher Ghazala Gulzaib as acting headmistress of the school. The departmental action against Batool was under way.

Two cops suspended

Two police officials were suspended on charges of misuse of power and corruption.

The police said that city police officer received complaints against an incharge of a police post ASI Qaisar Shah and muharrar Rana Arshad of corruption and abuse of powers.

The CPO suspended the officials and ordered departmental action against them.

Revenue official arrested

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested a revenue official on charge of taking bribe from a citizen.

Woman gets death penalty, life term for acid attack

An ACE spokesperson said that Tahir Saleem, revenue officer in Chak No 208-RB, received Rs500 bribe from a resident of Jaranwala Road for a legal work.

The ACE team conducted raid and arrested the accused. Further investigation was under way.
