PHC reassured K-P will get share in CPEC

Federal govt says all promised projects being followed

PESHAWAR: The Federal Ministry of Planning and Development on Tuesday reassured the Peshawar High Court (PHC) that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government will get its share in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project as promised.

The two-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Younis Thaheem, expressed satisfaction over the response and disposed of the case.

During the hearing, the federal government submitted that they were following all the projects as promised to the K-P government, which also include construction of Hattar industrial estate and Rashkai industrial estate.



Earlier, K-P Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser had filed a petition complaining that during the CPEC’s 7th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on November 21, no project promised to the K-P government was included for construction.

Asking for the JCC 7^th meeting’s minutes, Qaiser had told the court that the federal government had backtracked from its earlier commitments and ignored the projects promised to be financed under the CPEC.

However, the court had told him that they had no concern with the JCC meeting’s minutes and had issued directives to the respondents to submit their response if they stood by their stance.
