Another educational institution attacked

Educational institutions continue to be the major target for terrorists

LAHORE: The terrorist attack on Peshawar Agricultural Training Institute is another reminder of how the law and order situation in the country has not improved. On December 1st, the institute was attacked by a group of burqa-clad terrorists who arrived in a rickshaw and entered the institute’s premises without much hassle and opened fire on students in a fashion much similar to the Army Public School attack of 2014. Fortunately, due to the holiday on account of 12th of Rabiul Awwal, many students had left for their hometowns and were not present on the premises.

The incident, above everything, is a reality-check for the state of security educational institutions in one of the highly sensitive provinces have. Although timely action by the army and security forces managed to avert a far more deadly situation, it still highlights the fact how educational institutions continue to be the major target for terrorists, as previously the APS, Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, have faced similar terrorist attacks.
