Hydroelectric Power: US officials visit Gomal-Zam dam

The dam, which is being completed with US assistance, is expected to provide up to 17.4 megawatts of electricity.

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Officials from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) visited the Gomal Zam dam on Thursday, along with Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Shakil Durrani.

The dam, which is being completed with US assistance, is expected to provide up to 17.4 megawatts of electricity, enough to power approximately 25,000 homes.

The first power production units at the dam are expected to be commissioned by May and the project is expected to be completed by the winter, according to US officials.
