WELLINGTON: New Zealand coach John Wright has said his team was past its dismal run preceding the World Cup.

Wright said the World Cup had helped the morale of the side despite losing to Sri Lanka in the semi-final. “Losing the semi-final was bitterly disappointing but I hope the team has learnt,” said the coach. “I think it has grown. What’s important is that we played as hard as we could with what we had.” Wright was non-committal about his choice for the captain of the national team, but said the issue needs to be addressed soon.
