Five-star Hasan leads Pakistan to series win over Sri Lanka

Hosts beat visitors by seven wickets to go 3-0 up in five-match series

Pacer Hasan Ali produced his best bowling performance in 50-over cricket to help Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the third ODI of the five-match series in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

After opting to bat first, Sri Lanka were going smoothly till the 10th over when Hasan came to bowl and started the collapse, which saw visitors go from 59 for no loss in the 10th over to 141 for six in the 36th over.

Late order resistance from Thisara Perera helped Islanders get past 200-run mark, but it was not enough as the team was bowled out for 208 in the 49th over.

Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for Green Caps, as he finished his spell with the figures of 5-34.

For Sri Lanka, captain Upul Tharanga finished the innings with the top score of 61, whereas Tharanga scored brisk 38.

In response, Pakistan easily chased down the target ­­inside 43 overs, courtesy brilliant batting performance from debutante Imamul Haq, who finished the innings with the top score of 100.

Both teams will now travel to Sharjah, where the fourth match of the series will be played on Friday.
