SARGODHA: A court awarded death sentence to an accused for his involvement in a murder case in Sargodha on Friday.

The judgment was announced by District and Sessions Judge Sohail Ikram. The prosecution told the court that accused Iftikhar Ahmed, a resident of Mumtaz Park Farooqa, had killed his wife Rehana Bibi over a petty dispute on October 29, 2016.

The local police registered a case against the accused and presented the challan before the court. After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down life sentence to the convict along with a fine of Rs0.3 million. The convict had been shifted to District Jail Sargodha.

Meanwhile, Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Tariq Mehmood Zargham awarded 13 years imprisonment to an accused involved in uploading hate material on social media.

The prosecution told the court that CTD police conducted a raid at Kamar Masani Town in Mianwali, on April 20, 2017 and arrested Ghulam Abbas Shah for uploading hate material on social media.

After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down 13-year jail term to the convict. Earlier, a court awarded death sentence to an accused for his involvement in a murder case in Sargodha.

The judgment was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Irfan Ahmed Sheikh. The prosecution told the court that accused Jabir Hussain, a resident of Khushab, had killed his wife Nasira Parveen and sister-in-law Shahida Parveen over a family dispute on October 30, 2016.
