At least two civilians were martyred on Wednesday when Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rawalakot and Chirikot sectors.
Pakistan Army befittingly responded to the Indian aggression and killed at least three Indian troops and caused injury to five others, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
Indian posts near the border also suffered heavy damages as Pakistan Army effectively engaged the Indian troops.
The belligerent Indian forces deliberately targeted the civilian population by firing from across the border in Kakuta, Chaffar, Serian and Narakot villages.
Ceasefire violation: Civilian martyred, four injured in Indian shelling
The incident comes after Indian forces’ fire killed three civilians and injured five others in Rakhchikri and Rawalakot sectors on September 30 and October 2.
In 2017 to date, the forces have carried out more than 900 ceasefire violations along LoC and the Working Boundary, killing 43 civilians and injuring 153, as compared to 382 ceasefire violations in 2016.
Protest lodged
The Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned to lodge a strong protest over the ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces.
During the past two weeks, Indian occupation forces have increasingly targeted civilian areas on the Pakistani side, resulting in the martyrdom of 13 civilians, including six women, and injuries to 39 others.
Despite calls for restraint, India continues to indulge in ceasefire violations, Director General (SA & SAARC), Dr Mohammad Faisal said in a statement.

“The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation,” the statement added

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi strongly condemned the unprovoked firing by the Indian forces.
In a statement, he lauded the role of Pakistani security forces who gave a befitting response to silence the enemy's guns.
Abbasi expressed deepest condolences and sympathies with the bereaved families.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also condemned the unprovoked firing of Indian Army at the Line of Control.
