Broadband subscribers reach 47m

Data shows that broadband users significantly increased between July and August 2017

KARACHI: The number of total broadband subscribers including 3G and 4G users has crossed 46.9 million as of August this year, registering a reasonable monthly growth rate, data released by PTA said.

The data shows that broadband users significantly increased between July and August 2017 on the back of increased 3G and 4G subscribers of mobile internet services due to introduction of ‘MiFi’ and ‘Wingles’ services.

Other broadband services and their users included DSL (1.5 million), HFC (51,065), Wimax (0.160 million), FTTH (51,097), EvDO (0.56 million) and 9,264 subscribers of other services.
