This was stated by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday while talking to a delegation of the Tariq Road Traders Welfare Association, led by President Aslam Bhatti, General-Secretary Asad Towfique and other members.
'No parking will be allowed on main roads in Karachi'
Shah said he has reconstructed major roads such as Tariq Road, Saddar, University Road and others which are the hubs of business activities. "I have personally witnessed that traders throw waste and filth from their shops on the roads, instead of using dustbins," he lamented, urging the association to ensure that the areas are kept clean.
The association, while lauding the CM's initiatives, assured him of their support and cooperation in keeping their areas neat and clean.
The CM pointed out that the parking lots of shopping plazas have been converted into warehouses. "This is unacceptable," he said and asked the delegation to discuss this matter with the association's members and others. He directed them to open parking areas, otherwise he would take serious action.
My work will speak for itself: Murad Ali Shah
"I am going to issue directives to the newly appointed traffic DIG to open the parking areas and report to me," he said.
He directed the DIG to revisit areas where car showrooms are located and ensure no car is displayed on the road. "We support business activities but do not allow encroachments upon roads that lead to hindrances in traffic flow," he said.
