Property Ownership: ‘Federal govt has no land in Balochistan’

QUETTA:

The federal government and its institutions do not own land in any province and therefore have no right to sell property, said Balochistan Chief Secretary Ahmed Bakhsh Lehri at the inauguration of a school here on Saturday.

“Although Balochistan needs land and the ownership of the property lies with the province, the Pakistan Railways is selling it,” he said at Patwar School.

Lehri added that measures will be taken to computerise official and non-official property records to help in getting details on the measurement of a piece of land.

Senior member Board of Revenue Sarwar Javed, Commissioner Quetta Division, Naseem Ahmed Lehri and Principal of the Patwar School also spoke at the occasion.

John | 13 years ago | Reply @Asif Kakar: All imperial British railway lands along the line were purchased, 200 meters either side, if i am correct. You can get some idea about it in imperial gazette, India archives in British library or Govt of india archives.
Asif Kakar | 13 years ago | Reply British imperial government never did any thing which was not legally covered. All the railway tracks, stations and railway housing and cantonments were built on lands purchased from the local tribes. There are numerous cantts since the british era. All these lands belong to concerned ministries. As a matter of fact, Balochistan government cannot handle its own record nor does it have any record of its own assets. Records are mostly stolen and lands are distributed, how come they will have a record of federal property. The statement reflects a hidden agenda
