Khalid Latif banned for five years in PSL spot fixing case

Opener also slapped with fine of PKR 1 million

Islamabad United batsman Khalid Latif has been banned for five years and also slapped with fine worth of RS 1 million by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) anti corruption tribunal on Wednesday.

Anti Corruption Tribunal has found Khalid Latif guiltily of all charges, therefore has announced a ban of 5 years & a fine of PKR 1 Million

Latif was one of the six cricketers questioned in relation to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing scandal.

The 31-year-old, who made his debut for Pakistan in 2008 against Zimbabwe, represented Green Caps in 13 ODIs and eight T20Is, where he scored 384 runs with the help of two half-centuries.

PCB's legal adviser Tafazzul Rizvi, while talking to the media in Lahore, said the board will decide further course of action after receiving the detailed verdict. "We can't say right now if the verdict is lenient or not as we've not received the full verdict," said Rizvi. "Once we will, only then we can decide how to move forward."

On question regarding why PCB could not trial the alleged bookmaker, Yousuf, Rizvi said the board have no jurisdiction. "PCB does not have any jurisdiction to trial any bookie for any wrong doing," he said. "We can only trial our players, who were centrally contracted with the board."
