Police said Muhammad Amir, a resident of Riazal Khateeb Colony, had an argument with his brother Muhammad Tanveer over a petty issue two days back. In a fit of rage, Amir slit the throat of his brother Tanveer with a sharp weapon while he was asleep in his home.

The police have arrested the accused after registering a case against him. The police handed the body to his family after completing legal formalities. Meanwhile, a 10-year old boy was crushed to death by a train in the jurisdiction of Factory Area police station. Police said that Sajjad, a resident of Anjum Town, was grazing goats near railway tracks in Chak No 70 when he was crushed under the wheels of Sargodha Express. Police handed the body to the heirs after completing necessary formalities.
The irrigation task force claimed to have caught 28 farmers for stealing canal water in the jurisdiction of Sahiwal police station. The police said that irrigation task force and police conducted a grand operation at Mobary Khan, Denar, Mubhary Wala, Habibpur, Sahiba Balochan and Noorpur Khokharan villages and arrested 28 farmers for pilfering canal water.
The accused were identified as Idrees, Nabi Bukhsh, Zulfiqar, Amanullah, Mukhtar, Masoom Ali, Shajjar Abbas, Saif, Sadaqat and others.
At least 11 drug peddlers were apprehended by police who seized narcotics and illegal weapons from them. The police said that teams of different police stations conducted raids and arrested 11 drug peddlers, besides confiscating 1,550 grammes of hashish, 80 bottles of liquor, three pistols, a gun, a rifle and rounds from them.

The accused were identified as Wali Ayaz, Parvez Akhtar, Muhammad Omar, Zafar Iqbal, Nouman Ejaz, Muhammad Mumtaz, Muhammad Yasir and others. The District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA) impounded 20 vehicles for violating load axle management.
A DRTA spokesman said action against overloaded trucks was carried out in Jhaal Chakian and Atta Shaheed police limits and 20 vehicles were impounded.
