A complaint was lodged at the PCSW helpline 1043. PCSW Chairperson Fauzia Viqar demanded the Punjab police arrest the accused immediately and give him exemplary punishment.  She added that any sort of violence against women was unacceptable.

She maintained that PCSW will follow the case in coordination with the police and Punjab Safe Cities Authority to ensure justice to the victim. Earlier on September 14, Asmat threw acid on his fiancé Benish Sharif while she was at a bus stand.  The victim was admitted to Mayo Hospital for treatment and doctors said she had suffered 30% burn injuries.
