The makers of popular American fantasy series Game of Thrones have decided to shoot multiple versions of the ending of the upcoming season eight in order to avoid any chances of leaks.

As the episodes of the show have been leaked on numerous occasions earlier, HBO's president of programming Casey Bloys says the makers will shoot different endings to the eighth and final season.

"I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really knows what happens," Bloys told The Morning Call newspaper.

"You have to do that on a long show because when you're shooting something, people know. So they're going to shoot multiple versions so that there's no real definitive answer until the end," Bloys added.

HBO previously stated that its network was victimised by a cyber attack, and media reports said the hack resulted in the leak of a script of the popular series Game of Thrones' season 7 and content from other productions.

A statement by the Time Warner-owned TV group said a “cyber incident” resulted in “the compromise of proprietary information,” and that the company had contacted law enforcement and outside cyber-security firms.

“Any intrusion of this nature is obviously disruptive, unsettling and disturbing for all of us. I can assure you that senior leadership and our extraordinary technology team, along with outside experts, are working round the clock to protect our collective interests. The efforts across multiple departments have been nothing short of herculean,” HBO chief Richard Plepler said in a memo to staff.

Game of Thrones season eight will reportedly go on the floors in October.
