Rumours and leaks have been dominating the headlines over the past year, there seems to be no end to the speculation. While most rumours quite expectedly focused on the apparent bezel less design or the OLED display however a new leak has left us all surprised.
Leaked iPhone 8 pictures, information suggest it will be priced at $999
We all thought the Anniversary edition device will be called iPhone 8 given the previous chronological order. However, it turns out that’s not going to be the case.
Tech website LetsGoDigital claims it was accidentally sent a box by a Dutch telecom provider, with a familiar design of what the iPhone is packed in. The name "iPhone X" was inscribed on the box replacing the spot otherwise the text “iPhone 8” would have occupied.
Although LetsGoDigital hasn’t named the exact provider, it has stated that it is "the biggest provider of telecommunications and IT services in the Netherlands, and "adding that this company "will certainly sell the new iPhone the minute it becomes available".
If this indeed is the case, the name iPhone X would certainly seem like a logical choice given X is the Roman equivalent of 10, the date marking Apple's iPhone anniversary.
iPhone 8's 3D facial recognition feature will recognise you in 'millionths of a second'
The ever reliable Evan Blass, who has a track record of leaking accurate information also seems to be backing the claim.
FWIW, I've also heard "iPhone X" (though not 8 / 8 Plus for the JV squad) as well as 9/15 pre-orders and 9/22 release / ship date.

Blass further claims that the pre-orders for the next generation iPhone will start from September 15 while the device will be released a week later on September 22.
Apple's launch event is scheduled to take place at the company's new "spaceship campus" next week.
