Taylor Swift just might have ripped-off Beyoncé’s revenge album

Fans mocking starlet for striking similarities between ‘Formation’ and her new single ‘Look What You Made Me...

Uh oh! Looks like Beyoncé fans are not happy with Taylor Swift’s latest release.

The Beyhive is accusing Tay-Tay of copying the super star's iconic music video Lemonade in her new single Look What You Made Me Do, reported Daily Mail. And we can’t blame them as there sure are some striking similarities between the two.

One fan tweeted screen-grabs of the Look What You Made Me Do teaser and Lemonade, captioning it, “Lemonade and Minute Maid.”  Another added, “Taylor Swift wanna-be Beyoncé so bad.”

In one shot from the teaser, Taylor, 27, wears a black leotard and fishnet tights while leading a group of male dancers in similar garb. Beyoncé, 35, wore a similar outfit while performing Formation at last 2017 Superbowl. The song’s video has the latter before a group of men in black leotards too.

Meanwhile, Taylor's own fans are upset with the fiery tone of her new single. Look What You Made Me Do was widely received as a musical jab at the pop starlet’s celebrity nemeses, like Katy Perry, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. One fan tweeted, “You lost me with this new song. I miss the old Taylor.” Another said, “I really don't like the new Taylor Swift song. The chorus is so trashy.” A third stated, “Taylor Swift won't stop bringing up her thing with Kanye as it's the only thing keeping her relevant.”

However, a number of faithful fans welcomed Taylor back to the charts. “I gotta say it's one of the best singles this year,” wrote one while another added, “Just listened to the new song and love it!”



But it appears that jabs could already have been fired back from Team Perry, as Nicki Minaj – who appears on Katy’s track Swish Swish which is largely accepted as a dig at Taylor – cryptically tweeted, “Be humble” on Thursday too.

In Look What You Made Me Do, Taylor also makes a thinly veiled reference to her beef with Kanye in 2015. The 40-year old conversation with Taylor was released by his wife Kim as damning proof that Taylor was well aware of his intentions to reference her on his album The Life of Pablo.  

One of the more eyebrow-raising parts of the new track comes during the bridge part, when a phone rings. A voicemail by Taylor herself can be heard saying, “I'm sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, because she's dead!”

As if a new single wasn't enough, the blonde beauty also released images for the three versions of magazine covers for her upcoming album Reputation on the same night. Each has the look of a modern day art magazine and features a clutter of words which seem to indicate the contents of its pages.

Among the exciting promises featured on the cover are “poetry and paintings”, “handwritten lyrics”, “fashion portraits” and “behind the scenes video shoot photography.”

It was an exciting Thursday as Look What You Made Me Do was released along with a lyric video produced by Taylor and her longtime collaborator Joseph Kahn. The three-and-a-half minute clip includes plenty of snake imagery which Taylor has been teasing on social media over the past few days.

Undoubtedly, the lyrics of Look What You Made Me Do will be cross-analysed as they include biting remarks like, “The world moves on, another day, another drama. But not for me, all I think about is karma.”

The highly-anticipated Reputation has 15 tracks, according to iTunes. Swift also teased an upcoming tour by featuring a portal on her website in order for followers to sign up to be on the wait list for verified fan tickets.
