LOWER DIR: Four people, including a woman, were injured in Lower Dir when a bomb targeting a local Awami National Party leader’s vehicle went off on Wednesday.

According to the district police officer (DPO) Kashif Zulfiqar, unidentified people had planted a remote-controlled improvised explosive device by the road which exploded when the vehicle of Toti Rehman, an active ANP leader and member of the local peace committee, was driving by.

The DPO added that the bombing occurred in a remote area, however, police arrived there and cordoned the site off.

The injured individuals were shifted to Lal Qilla Hospital, Lower Dir.

An investigation into the attack is underway.

On August 9, four military men – including a senior officer – were martyred during an intelligence-driven raid on a mountainous hideout of terrorists in the neighbouring Upper Dir district.

The martyred military men were identified as Major Ali Salman, Havaldar Ghulam Nazir, Havaldar Akhtar, and Sepoy Abdul Karim.
