The rally will enter from Imamia Colony, Shahdara Town onto GT Road and into Lahore. At least 10,000 police officials and traffic, 16 SPs, 25 DSPs, 60 SHOs, 470 upper subordinates, 30 elite vehicles and 5,000 police officials will monitor the overall situation. Around 2,000 wardens, under the supervision of 15 DSPs, four SPs and a chief traffic officer will maintain flow of traffic.
YDA plans to crash Nawaz's homecoming
On Tuesday, Capital City Police Officer Amin Wains, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG Security Moin Masood, SP Seurity Abadar Nisar, experts from special branch, bomb disposal squad and other security agencies visited the route of rally. They reviewed important points like Imamia Colony, Shahdara Mor, Niazi Chowk, Azadi Chowk Flyover, Data Darbar, Mall Road, Ferozpur Road, Model Town and Raiwind Road. SPs also visited their designated points and briefed officials about their duties.
According to the plan, the route would be cleared by the special branch, sniffer dogs, bomb disposal squads and security agencies before the entrance of the rally. A cavalcade and vehicles of Elite Force would escort the container of Nawaz Sharif. The route would be monitored with CCTV cameras and Safe City Authorities’ cameras. These will be monitored at PSCA Qurban Lines, DIG Ops Office and SP City Office.
Meanwhile, aerial surveillenace of the route would be also conducted. Roads and streets leading towards the route would be closed down with barbed wire, barricades and tents. Snipers will be deployed on nearby rooftops to keep an eye on any suspicious person or activity. Men in civvies will also be deployed.
Imran accuses Nawaz of undermining judiciary
The Dolphin squad, Police Response Unit and beat officers will remain on patrol in nearby areas to respond in case of any untoward incident. Ambulances will also escort the rally, while medical camps will also be set on the route. Search operations will also be conducted in areas around the route to nab any suspicious people.
Police have received surety bonds which were signed by shops, hotels, hostels and other such establishment along the route of the rally. These documents assured that none of the lodging facilities were hiding any suspicious people.
Punjab Police devised a traffic plan under which commuters will use the motorway to travel from Lahore to Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar. Heavy vehicles will be named from August 9 to August 11.
