Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Wednesday that the new cabinet would be formed in a day or two, however he refused to comment on whether or not Chaudhry Nisar will be the interior minister or at least in the cabinet for the matter.

"The federal cabinet's oath-taking has been postponed. Discussions are under way for the new cabinet and the new ministers will take oath in a day or two," he told reporters after a meeting with the party leadership in Murree.

When asked if Nisar was being considered, he said he had nothing to say about that for now.

Abbasi said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had directed him to worker even faster on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects.

"We have to show that though the prime minister has changed out policies remain the same," he added.

The oath-taking ceremony of the federal Cabinet, scheduled to be held at 5:30pm in Islamabad on Wednesday, was postponed.

The postponement of the ceremony came hours after the newly elected prime minister met Nawaz Sharif in Murree, where the former premier is staying with his family after the Supreme Court last week disqualified him over failure to disclose receivables as an asset.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was also present during the meeting.
