Minister says revamping of 40 DHQ, THQ hospitals will be completed by September

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary health Khawaja Imran Nazir has said all the health indicators in Punjab were significantly improving and the routine immunisation coverage, antenatal and postnatal healthcare have also been improved.

He said this while addressing the launching ceremony of Punjab Health Survey Phase-I on Wednesday at a local hotel. The minister said revamping of 40 district headquarters and tehsil headquarters hospitals would be completed by September this year. The minister said currently high quality medicines were being provided to the government sector hospitals which were previously not affordable by common people.

Imran revealed that one of the benefits of third party survey was that such activities identify gaps in the system and highlight the different aspects of improvements. He said 85% basic health units have got medical officers due to the success of central induction policy for post-graduation introduced by the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department which has allocated 10 special number for serving in periphery.

Imran said thousands of patients have been treated and discharged from the public sector hospitals after recovery.
