Balochistan CM orders crackdown on ghost employees

Directs officials to expedite work on development projects

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has ordered a crackdown on ghost employees in the provincial government departments.

Issuing instructions to the local administration in all divisions of the province, Zehri said that ghost employees in dispensaries, hospitals, educational institutions and other places should be traced and punished under the law.

He said his government had released billions of rupees for development in the province. And the development schemes initiated by the government, he added, should not be left on paper, but brought in existence.



Separately, during a meeting, the chief minister reviewed progress on the Quetta development package and directed the authorities to ensure civic amenities to the residents of Saryab on a war footing.

He issued strict orders to the officials to prepare survey reports and PC-1 related to all the schemes and report back to him within 10 days. He said that Saryab Road and Airport Road should be widened; special parks for women and children established and all the development work completed without further delay.

Zehri said he would not tolerate any negligence in the implementation of the Quetta development package for which Rs10 billion had already been allocated. He asked the officials concerned to prepare schemes for flyovers, underpasses and efficient sewerage system in all the parts of the provincial capital.



The chief minister was briefed on the projects including the construction of flyover at Nawan Killi, Buleli; widening and rehabilitation of Sabzal Road and Saryab Road; and construction of the Quetta Expressway and underpasses.

Zehri told the officials concerned that work on the Food Street of Quetta, to be set up on the railway land, should be expedited.
