The awareness campaign would provide people with information on safety precautions they can take during natural calamities such as floods and heavy rains.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Spokesperson Taimur Ali told The Express Tribune that they were printing banners which would be pasted on rickshaws and in public transport vehicles such as buses which ply on the roads and streets of the province.
“Public transport vehicles are used by our target audience… and the rickshaws ply in every street thus carrying our message to every corner [of the city],” Ali said.
“Our district office teams would also distribute pamphlets and brochures amongst the people on the roads containing information about what to do during floods, landslides and other monsoon or heavy rain-related incidents,” he said adding that the campaign is expected to be launched in the coming weeks.
He added that they would also utilise print and electronic media through advertisements and news reports to reach out to the public, he said, adding that lack of awareness among the public was one of the main for causalities during natural disasters.
