The judges threatened to order the registration of cases regarding kidnapping for ransom of the alleged missing persons against head muharar Anwar Kalia.

Earlier, the petitioners said Kalia had allegedly taken two of the missing persons - Zahoor and Abdul Rehman - into custody a few days ago from Mauripur neighborhood. They said, when approached, the police official refused to disclose any information regarding the whereabouts of the missing men.

The court was told that a few days later, the same police official took into custody two more people - Aftab and Qasim - from Eidoo Lane and the families have yet to be given any information on their whereabouts.

The petitioners alleged that Kalia had initially demanded a bribe for the release of the four people and threatened to kill them in a fake encounter if his demands were not fulfilled.

The court was pleaded to order the recovery of the missing men. It was also requested to direct Kalia and his senior officials to produce them in the court of law, if the missing persons had criminal records.

Taking notice of the police authorities' attitude, Chief Justice Sheikh personally summoned the investigation SP and SHOs of the Baghdadi, Kalakot and Mauripur police stations to appear in person, along with a written explanation as to why an action should not be taken against them for unlawfully detaining citizens and demanding bribes for their release. It also directed them to ensure the recovery of the four men within two days.
