Here's all we know about the 'Wonder Woman' sequel so far

Wonder Woman fans, be warned: there are spoilers ahead.

Now that the Gal Gadot-starrer has become both a commercial and feminist success story, its fans are already salivating for details about the sequel.

Fortunately, we've got the inside scoop. Even though Wonder Woman is still in theatres, DC Comics  has already begun to deliver the goods on Wonder Woman 2. As compiled from Vogue, here's all that we know about the upcoming film so far...



It will be another period piece

After single-handedly ending World War I through the power of love, Wonder Woman 2 will fast-forward Gal to the 1980s, where she’ll take on the Soviets in a Cold War–themed sequel. Sounds super cool, doesn't it?

Chris Pine will reportedly return . . .

This one's for the female half: Whether this means he’s back from the dead, or, more plausibly, popping up in flashbacks, it appears pilot Steve Trevor will be back for the sequel. Either way, we're not complaining...

And so, it appears, will director Patty Jenkins

There hasn’t been an official announcement from Warner Bros. or DC yet, but the woman credited with making a mainstream successful summer super heroine movie for all audiences is in talks to helm Wonder Woman 2 as well.

“I was like, 'You don’t have to do this. It doesn’t have to be a foregone conclusion that you do Wonder Woman 2',” Jenkins said, about her decision to return recently. “But then, as I was falling asleep, I had an epiphany. I was like, 'Wait a minute. You have the greatest character of all time that you love dearly, with a cast that you love, sitting at the palm of your hand at this day and age and you can do whatever you want with them. Are you crazy'?”



Gal Gadot will get paid more this time

The shockwaves rippled through Twitter when the news broke that Gal made just $300,000 for the first Wonder Woman. But with the sequel, both Wonder Woman and the Israeli actor seem to have proven their power. Gal stands to negotiate for a much bigger payday. Battling Hollywood’s gender pay gap? That’s a superpower in and of itself.
