Policymakers in Islamabad need to realise that acceptance and retrospection will lead them to amend their policies

RAWALPINDI: This is in response to Anjum Altaf’s article titled “Pakistan and its neighbours” published on July 5th. Mr Altaf asks a very pertinent question in the wake of the current political scenario Pakistan is facing. Considering that the country has poor relations with each of its neighbours, excluding China, “has anyone seriously asked the two obvious questions: Why? And, at what cost?”

With Pakistan’s foreign policy continuously failing to make things better, policymakers in Islamabad need to realise that acceptance of the failure of its policies equipped with retrospection will only lead them to amend their policies. Just as Mr Altaf accurately states in his article, “when nobody likes you, the problem could very well be with you. At the very least, intellectual honesty demands one should be open to the possibility.”
