Galvanising youth

Letter July 04, 2017
The potential among the young generation is immense but are we setting up any solid platform to support it?

ISLAMABAD: In Pakistan, crowds give standing ovations to sportsmen and celebrities, but the people who work in art, literature and education are given the least value and respect. Monetary benefits for them are low as well. Intellectuals working in fields of bio sciences, physics and computer sciences should be provided with a greater platform so that they can share their knowledge.

Institutes need to be set up to ensure that maximum opportunity is given to entrepreneurs so that new jobs can be created and businesses flourish. This will also play an integral role in setting up a positive image of Pakistan. Peace can be successfully attained once the youth is galvanised and encouraged to play their role. Large strides need to be taken to end child labour and make youth the custodians of the future. Today the political spectrum has very little participation of the youth and all decision-making excludes young blood. Engaging our youth and inspiring them to work for environmental protection will do heaps of good for our society.

The potential among the young generation is immense but are we setting up any solid platform to support it?
