Official fitrana and fidya rates announced for 2017

With respect to oats, Fitrana will be Rs240, and for dates and raisins, Rs1600 per head

The minimum amount of Fitrana and Roza Fidya for the current year has been fixed at Rs100 per person.

This has been announced by the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman in a statement in Karachi, as reported by Radio Pakistan

According to the chairman, the breadwinner of a family is to pay at least Rs100, on behalf of each of his dependents, according to the price of wheat. With respect to oats, the Fitrana will be Rs240, and dates and raisins will be Rs1600 per head.

Previously, the minimum amount for Sadqa-e-Fitr or Fitrana had also been set at Rs100 per head.

However, the Fidya amount needed to be paid for the 30 days with respect to wheat price is Rs3000; with respect to barley Rs9600; with respect to dates Rs48,000; and with respect to raisins Rs48,000.

The chairman had said that Islam obligates its followers to pay the required amount before offering the Eid prayers, so that the needy can also make timely use of that money.

MJ-Sid | 6 years ago | Reply Isn't it a little bit too late to announce these official rates? If one has to pay this before they offer Eid prayers, then they should announce these amounts at least 2 weeks in advance. In US these rates were announced as soon as Ramadan started so that people will have ample time to give it to the deserving and not throw it at beggars outside the Eid grounds.
