Two killed in India’s cross-LoC firing

Four women among six injured as Indian forces target Rawalakot

MUZAFFARABAD: At least two people were martyred and six others – including four women – injured by unprovoked firing by the Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday.

According to Rawalakot Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mumtaz, Indian troops violated truce along the LoC while targeting civilian areas of Battal, Jandrot and Mandhol in Rawalakot district of AJK Thursday morning.

“Two civilians, namely Azar Ahmad and Fazal Ahmad, embrace martyrdom while four women, Jabeen Maqbool, Faiza Kabeer, Nasreen Akhter and Tayeeba Haneef, and two men, Malik Muhammad Jameel and Muhammad Safeer, received injuries.

 



The injured were shifted to Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Hospital Rawalakot where all injured people were in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader in the AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen condemned the continuous ceasefire violation along the LoC, urging the United Nations Military Observers Group of India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to take notice of the Indian firing on civilian areas.



“After losing the war in Occupied Kashmir, the Indian army has been attacking civilian areas along the LoC which is the worst kind of state terrorism,” he said and added “The United Nations should take notice of the Indian aggression.”

Member Kashmir Council and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Younas Mir also condemned the Indian forces attack, saying “global human rights organisations should take notice of the continuous ceasefire violation and the martyrdom of innocent people of AJK”.

Mir also appreciated the Foreign Office for summoning Indian diplomats to record Pakistan’s protest over the killing of civilians along the LoC.
